A FOODIE’S GUIDE TO PARKSVILLE

Let’s be honest, sometimes food is the best part of your day. Luckily, Parksville is full of new and exciting places to dine, from pizza to tacos, you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy.

Everyone is welcome at Merridale Cidery, including the kids and the dogs. Merridale is many things: a cidery, a distillery, an eatery and drink-ery. The staff is extremely passionate about their craft and is always ready to recommend which drinks to pair with your food, or answer any questions you might have.

Visit Morningstar Farm, home to Little Qualicum Cheeseworks and Mooberry Winery. This intriguing combination is the perfect place for the whole family to learn about how cheese is made, while enjoying their house-made wine. At Morningstar, you can even buy milk on tap, and it’s the same milk that goes in to making their flavourful artisanal cheeses.

Mount Arrowsmith Brewing is a family-run brewery that is giving Parksville the gift of delicious Craft Beer. Come in for a tasting flight, a growler fill, or a tour of the facility. Although Arrowsmith beers are available at select restaurants and liquor stores, nothing compares to the fresh taste on location.

Everyone loves pizza, but you’ve never had pizza like this before. At Salt Pizzeria, all pizzas are crafted on thin crust aged sourdough and made with only the freshest ingredients. They offer dine in or take out, so even if you’re in a rush you can treat yourself to a delicious meal.

Tidal Taco Shack is voted #1 on Trip Advisor, for a good reason. Tidal Taco Shack offers the best fish tacos, full of flavor with fresh fish. The name is no joke, it is a shack expect to take your food and go. Summer wait times can reach over 30 minutes, but Tidal tacos are always worth the wait.

Cuckoo Trattoria fuses west coast fare with traditional Italian cuisine. Located inside the Old Country Market in Coombs, it is the perfect place to enjoy. This eclectic marriage of two cultures, the fresh with the hearty.

Realm food Co is not just a restaurant; it is a community hub that focuses on organic, local and sustainable food. Realm has a variety of options to serve different dietary restrictions including vegan, paleo, gluten free and dairy free choices.

Lefty’s was started by three friends with a dream—to open a restaurant. As plans were drawn the three friends realized they were all left-handed. Coincidentally, the real-estate agent, a manager, and an account they met with was also left-handed. Through this, Lefty’s was born, and has been serving fresh food to Canada’s “Left-Coast” since 1996.

Taste Bistro embodies the spirit of the west coast from kitchen to table. Every dish is made with fresh, locally and ethically sourced ingredients and is inspired by the ethos of the island. The owners are both island locals, and every item on the menu is created and cooked by one of the pair. With one cook and one baker, they really know how to send diners home satisfied.
